[EN] is an arts criticism platform rooted in Groningen, NL. We believe in slow reflection, in sustainable criticism, and the power of extensive contemplations and considerations - and wish to move away from "actuality" and rushed writings.
Currently, we are facilitating the production and spreading of art texts and entering several archives for republications.

Op het moment faciliteren wij de productie en verspreiding van kunst-discursieve teksten;
Aan de andere kant duiken wij in de archieven voor herpublicaties.

SIGN Archive 1988-1999: a selection
various authors, 2024
In June ‘22, we started going through the archive of Project space SIGN, looking for exhibition texts, artist bio’s and other writings. We started a long-term project, in which we present curated selections per ~5 years. This collection (1988-1993 + 1993-1999) is the first print result of that. The texts collected in this publication give an impression of the role of text in the early phases of this essential art space at the end of the eighties and nineties. It showcases the themes and subjects that defined the era and that we are trying to shine a new light on. Later, more chapters will follow, slowly going through the respective quinquennia.
The texts in this publication had different roles in their exhibition contexts. By narrating, advertising, justifying, listing and declaring, the authors theorise and communicate their practices in different ways. In this, they show a variety of ways one can engage their artistic practice textually and visually.
