The paintings of Mark Robert Peters are characterised by a spatial suggestion that gives you as a viewer the feeling of temporarily being in a different dimension.

Because the canvases are painted wet-in-wet, a blurring occurs that gives you the idea that the painting is a gigantic blow-up of something very small (micro-cosmos), or very large (macro-cosmos). Through the blurring, size is relativised.

In the work from 1 year ago, a recurring structure can be seen that evokes different associations depending on the colour of the painting. In the most recent paintings, more different colours and forms have been added, resulting in a less amorphous character than in the older works.

Where the work was first characterised in terms of content by the problematics of time and space, i.e. the fourth dimension, there is now an attempt to solve formal painterly problems by further containing and structuring the brushstroke.
